Believed to be the cultural and entertainment center of the South, Atlanta boasts over 17 million visitors every year. With a huge amount of attractions there’s something for everyone. The city has more restaurants, sports teams, cultural activities and entertainment than any other Southern city and all in a very accessible area.
Enjoy world-class dining, a vibrant nightlife and of course, Southern hospitality. There are plenty of stunning scenic green spaces such as Piedmont Park which are super for an afternoon stroll. Or see the pandas at the zoo, always a popular place to visit. Visit Civil War museums and learn about the history of the area or marvel at the sea life at the interactive Georgia Aquarium.
Shoppers will adore the small, independent boutiques in the Virginia-Highland neighbourhood and for a lively evening, try some of the bars in East Atlanta. For some culture at night, see what’s playing at the Fox Theater which is home to the Atlanta Ballet and Atlanta Opera. There are often Broadway musicals that take the stage.
Don’t miss famous Stone Mountain which is a huge quartz monzonite mountain etched with Stonewall Jackson, Robert E Lee and Jefferson Davis, the images of three well-known Civil War figures. This is accessible by foot, on a hike or take a sky ride. Of course, the best way to see Stone Mountain is from the air, on-board one of Bolt Jets private charter flights.
Plant and flower lovers should take a trip to The Atlanta Botanical Garden which covers 30 acres of land in the north corner of Piedmont Park. Inside the garden, there’s the Fuqua Orchid Center which is home to hundreds of different orchid varieties. There are also an abundance of rare tropical and desert flowers including palms, jasmine and hibiscus. Look out for the poison dark frogs that live inside the conservatory walls!
